E-LEARNING CENTRE AND CENTRAL CORE REMODELLING

In 2005, we were appointed by the Governors of Helsby High School to develop a new teaching facility. The resultant two storey new build, the E-Learning Centre comprises of two double sized class bases, offices and ancillary accommodation and has facilitated the introduction of innovative and flexible teaching methods.

During the early stages of the project, detailed analysis identified future long-term development opportunities for the schools campus and we were appointed to carry out a strategic review of the campus’ current pitfalls including circulation issues, a shortfall in curriculum accommodation and a lack of inclusive environment.

Construction was phased to maintain the operation of the working school. Work included decommissioning teaching spaces, enclosing an existing courtyard to form a breakout space and office refurbishment. We also remodelled the existing dining, library and staffroom facilities.
During construction, a further two storey teaching block with laboratories, IT rooms and staff offices were added in order to support the influx of pupils from the closure of a nearby high school.
