Mostyn Hall, Flintshire

Listed Building Refurbishment

In 1988 we were asked to undertake a 5-year refurbishment programme on Mostyn Hall near Holywell. The building dates back in part to the 16th Century and is Grade I Listed.

The work involved full measured and condition surveys, extensive masonry repairs to the external fabric, phased re-roofing and the renovation of steel windows. The programme of repair works, specification, details and materials were agreed in advance with CADW, working in liaison with the Delyn Borough Council Conservation Officer

In 1990 one of the existing lodges was found to be structurally unsound. Underpinning and repair would have proved very expensive and it was decided to design a new lodge with more comfortable accommodation.

The design was carefully negotiated with the Local Planning Authority through extensive pre-application consultations.
